Thesis Introduction
My name is Jason Loftis. I am a visual designer, and I work primarily in the medium of web design. I am student at Fuller Theological Seminary’s Brehm Center, an institute that provides theological education to artists.
Each Brehm student undertakes a thesis project that serves as a culmination of his/her integration of art with theology. In my case, I am passionate about what I’ve coined “the missional web,” the use of Web 2.0 technology to further the Mission of the Church.
To learn more about what I mean by the term “Missional Church,” read the post Defining Missional Church in the Endeavr Blog.
Thesis Presentation
I created a slide presentation outlining my thesis project. You can view, print, and even share the presentation slides online at Issuu.com.
Meet Jason Loftis
For the last two years, Jason was a full-time theology student and aspired to be a graphic/web designer part-time. To his pleasant surprise, the opportunity to work for a dot com start-up presented itself as graduation neared. In the Summer of 2008, Jason will transition into a role as a visual designer with Slacker.com, a leading internet radio company.
Jason and his wife, Dara, have split their five years together between Santa Ana ("Downtown" Orange County) and in Pasadena (the prettiest part of LA), but their new adventure will take them to North San Diego County. Dara is a California native. She teaches high school English Literature.
Jason is originally from Chicagoland. His life adventures have included working with butchers, managing a warehouse, editing video for a media company, serving as a missionary in the Philippines, and pastoring young adults in the OC. And now he’s a Slacker.
Jason doesn’t eat enough vegetables, but he’s never come across a plate of buffalo wings he didn’t like. He believes Over the Rhine is the best band you’ve never heard of and AngleBall is the coolest sport you’ve never played. Going to movies and reading crime novels are occasional distractions from his theological reading and web design.
